This Design-Build project involved the complete reconstruction of the 600-foot (193-meter) Berth 7 at Port Bustamante, including the demolition of the existing seawall and extending the berth 50 feet waterward. The new seawall was constructed with 48-inch diameter, 105-foot long steel pipe piles, reinforced by 130-foot long, 3-inch diameter tiebacks connected to an upland steel sheet pile wall. The wall was anchored using a steel channel waler system and topped with a 7-foot thick, 6-foot deep concrete cap designed to support heavy loads. The seawall was equipped with 100-ton bollards and a modern fender system. Upland improvements included the installation of advanced utilities, such as a drainage system, fire pump, fire hydrants, fire piping, a new water main, electrical system, and three high mast lights for enhanced safety and functionality throughout the berth.
